Web 2.0 = Data

The Web of documents hs morphed into a Web of data. We are no longer just looking to the same old sources for information. Now we're looking to a new set of tools to aggregate and remix microcontent in new and useful ways.

Tim O'Reilly gets credit for thinking up the first Web 2.0 Conference, but he ran that conference like a trade show for venture capitalists, instead of a true multidisciplinary meeting of minds. It's fun to read the hype that existed before the concept gelled.

Paul Graham gives a much better conceptual framework for Web 2.0. He is presents himself as a web guru, and is very easy to read.

Richard McManus and Joshua Porter , in their article 'Web 2.0 for Designers', define the new skills that web designers will have to acquire for Web 2.0. By making use of things like XML databases and RSS feeds, content becomes dynamic. Designers will have to become programmers.
